A beautiful example of an antique Edwardian era (1901-1915) belcher ring. The ring features an oval-shaped garnet of excellent cut, colour and size (estimated at 2 carats), with deep burgundy hues. The garnet is set open-backed in an 9ct yellow gold band with intricate scrolled engraving to the shoulders.
Stamped for 9ct gold, Chester, 1904, maker's mark 'S.U'.
Size: R 3/4 (US 9.25). Resizable within reason.
Weight (approximate): 4.6g
Measurements (approximate): Garnet measures 9.5mm x 8mm. Ring head is 12.5mm at the widest point.
Condition: Very good with wear commensurate with age. The garnet has some small, natural inclusions and is in great condition, with almost no abrasion and only one small chip to one of the side facets. The band shows evidence of resizing at the rear.
