A rare and highly collectable antique rosary ring. The band is studded with ten small gold beads symbolising the Hail Marys. These rings were originally made for poorer Catholics without access to a bible - they could run their finger along the beads while meditating on the different scriptures that each one represents. The face of the ring has a crucifix appliqué in black enamel (possibly a later addition).
Stamped with the French eagle head mark for 18ct gold (tested) and with the maker's mark 'JD'.
Ring size: US 7.5 (UK O). Cannot be resized without losses to the gold beads on the band.
Weight: 1.4g
Measurements (approximate): appliqué cross is 9mm x 6.5mm; band width is 3mm.
Condition: Very good with minimal wear commensurate with age. Enamel is in good condition. Appliqué appears to be a later addition and sits astride two of the rosary beads. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
Cost includes full insurance coverage for loss or damage in transit.
