A stunning and sentimental antique Georgian era (1714-1836) mourning ring. The face of the ring features an oval plaque under glass painted in sepia with an image of an angel under a willow tree, resting against an urn bearing the initials 'E.G.'. The yellow gold band of the ring is engraved with the words 'Eliz. Goodale, Ob. 20 Feb 1777, AE 75'. The rear of the plaque bears a personalised engraving, 'Sam Unwin. Ob. 22 June, 1780, AE 43'. The interior of the band also has a personalised engraving reading 'Mary Shott, Ob. 22 Feb 1777, AE 52'.
Size N (US 7). Cannot be resized due to engraving on band.

Measurements: Ring face measures 19.5mm x 13.5mm. Band is 2.5mm wide.
No hallmarks are present, but gold tests as a minimum of 14ct.
Condition: Very good, with wear commensurate with age. The glass is bright and glossy with minimal scuffing. The sepia painting is well defined, crisp and very well preserved. The band was originally decorated with black enamel, of which only traces remain. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
