A stunning and sentimental antique Georgian era (1714-1836) mourning ring. The navette-shaped face of the ring features a stylised monogram with the initials 'TP' against a background of hairwork, held under a glazed panel. With lovely details including a millegrain border and engraved shoulders, the ring is crafted in 9ct yellow gold (or thereabouts). The back of the ring bears a personalised dedication which reads 'Thos. (Thomas) Parker, Ob. 31 Jan, 1787, Aet. 65'.
No stamps are present, but the gold tests as 9ct.
Size Q ½ (US 8.75). Cannot be resized due to hairwork.
Weight (approximate): 6.1g
Measurements (approximate): Ring face measures 29.75mm x 17mm.
Condition: Very good, with minimal wear commensurate with 237 years of age. The hairwork is in pristine condition. The glazing has only a few minor marks (it has possibly been replaced at some stage given the excellent condition for its age). The gold has light marks and wear. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
