An exceptional antique Victorian era (1837-1901) enamel locket in 18ct yellow gold (back and front). The front of the locket is adorned with sky blue enamel in a quatrefoil pattern, while the back of the locket is engraved with the Order of the Garter symbol. Inside is a glazed compartment, original to the locket. The locket also has a detachable safety chain with pin.
No stamps are present but the gold tests as a minimum of 18ct.
Weight (approximate): 3.5g
Measurements (approximate): 21mm x 17mm (including bale).
Condition: Very good, with wear commensurate with age. The enamel is in good condition with no major losses. The gold has some light scuffs and dents. The interior glazing is present, intact and in good repair. The hinge and safety chain both function well. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
