A delightful antique Victorian era (1837-1901) brooch designed as a coiled snake. The snake bears a bezel set diamond on his brow and has red spinel eyes. His body is finely decorated with scaled engraving to the tail and an acanthus leaf (symbolising immortality) to the head. This large, sturdy pin is made from 15ct yellow gold and is of exceptional quality. It looks to have been converted to a brooch from its original state at some point. It can be worn by both gents and ladies on lapels and scarves, or affixed to any outfit for an extra touch of panache. It can also be converted to a pendant if desired.

No hallmarks are present but its tests as a minimum of 14ct gold (likely to be 15ct). The brooch pin is silver.

Brooch measures: approximately 30mm x 25mm

Weight: approximately 2.3g

Condition: Very good with wear commensurate with age. The diamond has an inclusion that is visible under a 10x loupe. There are some bumps to the gold at the back of the brooch, but the front is in good condition. The piece has been modified at some point to be worn as a brooch. The catch functions well. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Cost includes full insurance coverage for loss or damage in transit.
