A fascinating historic ring depicting an ancient Greek coin. The face of the coin features a bust of Agathocles, ruler of the ancient kingdom of Bactria (modern day Afghanistan) from 185 to 180BC, while the underside bears an image of Zeus holding the Greek goddess Hecate in his hand and an inscription which translates as 'King Agathocles'. As the coin gold, it is likely to be a replica of ancient coins of Agathocles which were minted in silver, bronze and copper, and were first uncovered by archaeologists in the early 19th century.
No stamps are present but the ring tests as 18ct gold.
Ring size: P (US 8). Unable to be resized due to hollow band.
